Pyramiding of cry toxins and methanol producing genes to increase insect resistance in cotton

چکیده

The idea of enhanced methanol production from cell wall by pectin methyl esterase enzymes (PME) combined with expression cry genes Bacillus thuringiensis as a strategy to improve insect pest control in cotton is presented. We constructed cassette containing two (cry1Fa and Cry32Aa) pme genes, one Arabidopsis thaliana (AtPME), other Aspergillus. niger (AnPME) pCAMBIA1301 plant vector using CAMV-35S promoter. This construction was transformed Eagle-2 variety shoot apex-cut Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Expression confirmed qPCR. Methanol measured the plants showing only plants, contrast non-transgenic plants. Finally, bioassays performed transgenic expressing showed 100% mortality for Helicoverpa armigera (cotton bollworm) larvae, 70% Pectinophora gossypiella (pink larvae 95% Earias fabia, (spotted that higher than 84%, 49% 79% mortality, respectively. These results demonstrate Bt. cry-genes coupled are an effective different pests.

Next‐generation transgenic cotton: pyramiding RNAi and Bt counters insect resistance

Transgenic crops producing insecticidal proteins from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) are extensively cultivated worldwide. To counter rapidly increasing pest resistance to crops that produce single Bt toxins, transgenic plant 'pyramids' producing two or more Bt toxins that kill the same pest have been widely adopted. However, cross-resistance and antagonism between Bt toxins limit th...

transformation of insect and herbicide resistance genes in cotton (gossypium hirsutum l.)

manipulation of different genes in crop plants to get desirable characters has become an important tool of plant biotechnology. in the current study, cotton variety mnh-786 was modified for its characteristics to show resistance against lepidopteran insects and herbicide by transformation of cry1ac+cry2a and gtgene cloned in a different cassette under 35s promoter. mature embryos of cotton mnh-...

Improving cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) plant resistance to reniform nematodes by pyramiding Ren1 and Ren2

Reniform nematode (Rotylenchulus reniformis) has become a major pest of cotton in the mid-south area of the United States. Resistance genes, Ren1 and Ren2 from Gossypium longicalyx and Gossypium aridum, respectively, have been identified and introduced into Upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum). We developed an F2 population of 184 progeny plants by crossing Ren2 -containing plants with a LONREN-2...
